Sea that took first this time around with 2,200 points (22 sails), followed by Dragin Fly in second with 1,700 points (12 sails, 1 marlin), and Fish Tank in third with 1,400 points (14 sails). |

Two hours later the teams had gone on to release 141 more billfish (141 sails and 1 marlin) and it was Pez Collector in first with 900 points, followed by Tarheel with 800 points, and Game Changer with 700 points. Tarheel moved to first with a sail at 10:28 am, but was bumped out of the top spot by Pez Collector with a marlin at 10:53 am. As it goes, there was some jostling of positions in the afternoon as well, with Team Galati jumping to second at 2:37 pm and then to first at 2:43 pm, and at the end of the day it was Fish Tank who also ended the day, with the last fish (a sail) released at 4:03 pm. Blue Eagle finished in first on time, achieving 1,800 points (18 sails) just one minute before Vaquero, also with 1,800 points (18 sails), and Team Galati finishing in third with 1,600 points (16 sails). DAY 2 got off to a quick start with a double sailfish release by Max Bet at 8:04 am and by 10:00 am the fleet had released 84 sails for the day. As of the 10:00 am update, Vaquero was sitting in first with 2,500 points, followed by Team Galati with 2,000 points, on time over Fish Tank with 2,000 points. By midday Team Galati found their way to second with 2,200 points on time over Max Bet, both behind Vaquero now with 2,700 points. Just two hours later the teams were gaining on Vaquero’s now 2,800 points. Tied for points, Smooth Move in second, and Blue Eagle in third, were beat on time. Smooth Move ended the day in first though after releasing 2 marlin, which when added to their 18 sails gave them 3,300 points. They were followed by Vaquero with 3,200 points and Blue Eagle in third with 3,100 points. Day 2 saw a total of 326 billfish releases, including 312 sails and 14 marlin. DAY 3, the third and final day got off to a slow start, with the first fish called out 8 minutes after lines in by Mjolnir. That’s not to say that things didn’t pick up though, since by 10:00 the teams had released 83 sails and 2 marlin, or 767 billfish overall. Blue Eagle moved to first on time with 3,700 points, over Max Bet in second with 3,700 points, followed by Smooth Move with 3,500 points. It was the same three names on the leaderboard at noon, albeit in a different order – Smooth Move was in first with 4,000 points, now followed by Max Bet with 3,900 points, and then Blue Eagle in third with 3,900 points as well. The excitement was palpable in the last hour of the day when Uno Mas shot from fifth to first at 3:01 pm with a marlin release, Smooth Move tied with them on points 9 minutes later with a sailfish release. Fish Tank released a double at 3:15 pm taking them to second. Blue Eagle was tied for first on points with Uno Mas 3:17 pm, but Uno Mas moved ahead with a sail at 3:28 pm. Fish Tank snuck to fourth with a sail just half an hour before lines out, but in the end it was Uno Mas that kept their first place position, with 4,800 points (33 sails, 3 marlin) over the three days of competition, followed by Smooth Move with 4,700 points (37 sails, 2 marlin) in second on time, and Max Bet in third, also with 4,700 points (47 sails) on time, over Blue Eagle. |
